U n NICEF in the latest report has stated that more than 12,000 children have been killed or disabled in conflict areas last year, thus marking the largest number of deaths since the UN has started to analyse data.
“NICEF has always been a symbol of hope and opportunity for childhood”, said the organisation's chief executive for children, Henrietta Fore.
According to international agency data, one in four children lives in countries affected by conflict or other disasters.
“in 2018, about 31 million children have been forced to flee their homes due to the conflict, including 13 million refugees and more than 17 million within their state”, the UN has reported.
In Ukraine, where armed conflict has entered the sixth year between the forces supported by Russia and the Ukrainian soldiers, it is believed that there are <x0,50,000 children in urgent need of protection and humanitarian aid”.
The UN has said children are paying the highest price of violence in ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen and other countries.
