Wessel formally announces Thaci that the new prime ministerial candidate scheme wants elections

The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Kadri Veselin, has returned to Republika President Hashim Thaci in the letter he sent today to ask if he has any other proposal for government mandated.

Wessel has published a Facebook statement announcing there will be no new mandate. He also announces that in the quality of the Speaker of the Assembly, he has called the Assembly Headship meeting for Monday, and in which he will discuss the distribution of the Assembly.

I have said and I repeat: elections are inevitable and are in the interest of the Republic of Kosovo. The Democratic Party of Kosovo, as always, even now, and in the future, strongly believes civic legitimacy”, Wessel has declared.

He has added that Kosovo citizens deserve a new government, working for rapid economic development, combating corruption without compromise, providing prospects for young people in Kosovo, guaranteeing equal opportunities for all, and bringing more young and younger, entrepreneurs and intellectuals to institutional leadership, for major changes that are necessary.

Honored citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,

As head of the Republic of Kosovo's Parliament, I have decided on Monday, August 5, 2019, to call a meeting of the Kosovo Parliamentary Group's Headship, together with the heads of Parliamentary Groups, in the function of actions we must take in the days ahead, specifically to discuss calling for the extraordinary session to distribute the current Kosovo Assembly legislature.

This meeting aims to formally and institutionally establish the positions of each parliamentary group regarding the situation created following the collapse of the Government of Kosovo, as well as concreteising steps to determine the quick date of early elections.

Meanwhile, as coalition leader PAN, I have returned to the president of the Republic of Kosovo and have announced there will be no other mandate.

I have said and I repeat: elections are inevitable and are in the interest of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo, as always, even now, and in the future, strongly believes civic legitimacy.

Kosovo citizens deserve a new government, which works for rapid economic development, which fights corruption without compromise, which offers prospects to our young people here in Kosovo, which guarantees equal opportunities for all and brings more young and younger, entrepreneur and intellectuals, to institutional leadership, for the major changes that are necessary.

Dear citizens,

The Kosovo Assembly is also obliged by the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and the regulation of the Parliament's Work to take the necessary legal actions for overstepping the legal and institutional situation.

The state cannot remain in institutional vacuum and without legitimate decision-making. It is in the interest of citizens and the state to move quickly towards the new legitimacy of institutions. And this can only be achieved through democratic elections.

As chairman of the Republic of Kosovo, by respecting the Constitution and laws in power, I will take all necessary actions so that the country will soon hold free and democratic elections.

The Republic of Kosovo faces major challenges, which come true only by having legitimate institutions and Government elected by free civic votes.

We are not about to waste any time.

I assure you that our country has all the necessary institutional capacities and the experience witnessed to organise an election process in full compliance with the highest democratic standards.

It is time to hear the will of the sovereign.
