Now how long Serbian authorities are moving Albanians from the Presevo Valley from the voter list and unregistering them.
The mayor of the Bujanoc municipality, Shaip Kamberi, has confirmed this in an interview with the news.net.
Kamberi has shown that this is mostly being observed in Medvedja and that such a large-scale practice is being implemented only for Albanians by Serbian authorities.
According to him, in connection with the progression of Albanian settlements have complained to Serbian and international institutions.
Kamberi has also announced that they will complain at the Strasburg Court about removing Albanian residents of the Presevo Valley from the election register.
The process of unvisiting Albanian settlements in the Presevo Valley, though it started years ago, has recently intensified further. The most intense post-stable action we have in Medvedja, the municipality in which the actual departure of Albanians has been carried out immediately after the end of the war in Kosovo, while now the screening process is trying to legitimise that situation. In Bujanoc and Presevo, even though there are numerous cases of postologisation, this process is at lower intensity. But, after that, there is an open tendency of Serbian government officials to artificially change the population structure in this municipality through these processes. According to us, this is a legal process and we have announced all international mechanisms, but our complaints and remarks have also gone to address the Serbian government. The more since the settlement's launch is currently associated with atonement from the electoral registry. There are cases of atonement among Serbs and Roma in Bujanoc, for example, but these are minor cases. We are expecting the international factor's response to preventing Serbia from continuing with this process”, he said.
While Kamberi has also told of the Serbian authorities' reasoning about this phenomenon, he suggested that citizens too are complaining about these actions.
The simple adoption of Serbian authorities is that they are acting on the provisions of the residence law, but also based on this law, according to our interpretation, Serbia is committing a violation of individual rights. What needs to happen is that in addition to political complaints that are constantly going, there are also citizens who should sue the state for this discrimination, because we have individual rights. Sadly, the number of citizen indictments in the state can be quite symbolic compared to the events, Camber said.
“These are cases that need to be run in judicial instances and then, as necessary at the Strasburg Court”, he said.
