M. The R., arrested in November last year for robbery and causing general danger, was allegedly beaten and tortured at the Gjakova police station, KTV reported.
But all of this was discovered when this detainee had filed a complaint in the box of complaints to the ombudsman at the Pec detention centre.
And after the suspect was treated in this centre and after medical reports released by the detention center, he was sent to Peja Hospital for treatment, where the medical report confirmed he was injured in various parts of the body.
And although ombudsman officials had twice addressed the paperwork to the Police Inspectorate to see what measures were taken in the case, the institution had taken more than 7 months of investigation to decide on the suspension of these officials.
While the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, in addition to a communique issued to the media, has said it cannot provide further details because of the investigation.
A day earlier, at the recommendation of the Police Inspectorate, Kosovo Police suspended the commander of the police station in Gjakova Kokujaj and five other police officials.
