The new measures, which would force anti-andrology injections for men convicted of serious sexual acts with minors, would turn Ukrainian law into one of the most severe in the world.
If some very controversial events of child abuse are considered in the country, the change will likely be highly supported by voters. But legal experts and medical professionals have deeply criticised the bill, appealing to President Zelenksy to intervene with a presidential veto.
The bill was hastily introduced at the latest session of this parliament on Thursday, understood as a move to get votes in early general elections this Sunday.
In commentary on the bill, one of the MPs said it was introduced to parliament. without the death penalty.
The issue of child abuse has become a central issue in Ukraine's election campaign following the kidnapping, sexual harassment and murder of a young girl in southern Ukraine.
Eleven-year-old Dariya Lujanenko was found in a ditch on 19 June, six days after leaving home for a ballet lesson. A 22-year-old family friend admitted, later, her murder, Day reports, referring to international media.
