The Serbian Justice Ministry told the Balkan Network for Investigative Journal (BIRN) that “has officially been reported for the arrest of Tomor Morina by North Macedonia authorities”.
The ministry said it would submit to Macedonian authorities a request for his extradition, as he allegedly was involved in war crimes against civilians in the Gjakova region from January to June 1999.
Kosovo's incumbent Foreign Minister, Behxhet Pacolli, has said Kosovo will not allow Morina's extradition.
Kosovo's top diplomat said Kosovo institutions will continue working for his release, as well as urging Skopje to reject the <x0 political warrants for arrests issued by Belgrade”.
“We will not allow the extradition of any of our citizens based on Belgrade issued arrests. This is the red line for Kosovo” Pacolli has said.
This is Pacolli's post:
Despite the fact that we have continued engagement with Skopje authorities to ensure the release of Tomor Morina, this has not yet happened. I'm sorry that the court of northern Macedonia has issued an order for pre-prisonment. Morina based on a political arrest warrant issued by Serbia.
We will continue to work for his release and call on Skopje to act like all countries in Europe who have rejected these political orders for access issued by Belgrade.
For one thing, I'm sure, we will not allow the extradition of any of our citizens based on Belgrade's warrants.
This is the red line for Kosovo.
Meanwhile, the Northern Macedonia Ministry of Internal Affairs has provided no details about the case.
