These computers will be distributed to 36 police stations and used by personnel for recording requests for legalisation of weapons.
The legalisation process, initiated by Interior Ministers and supported by the Government of Kosovo, began on December 17th 2018 for a six-month period and lasted for three months until September 17th, 2019.
Continued campaigning is funded by the UNDP through the contribution of the UN Trust Fund, which supported Co-operation around Weapons Adjusts (UNSCAR) and continues to support efforts to promote and strengthen public security in Kosovo and the region.
Legalisation is one of the methods of reducing illegal weapons and enabling citizens to have legal weapons under the Kosovo Law on Legislation and handover of weapons, ammunition and explosive means, which is harmonised with the EU directive for firearms.
Attending this event will be Izmi Zeka, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and AVL National Coordinator Rashit Qalaj, Kosovo Police Director General and Maria Sukokko, UNDP Permanent Representative.
On behalf of the Kosovo Police, Hamdi Hyseni, task manager of the Department for Support Services, will sign the accession-hand document.
