Two top European Union officials, who have been given the mandate -- Federica Moghrini, EU High Representative and Johannes Hahn, the Commissioner for Enlargement -- said it is a common task, always to remember Srebrenica as one of mankind's darkest <x0mments in modern European history. ”
There is no room for inflammatory rhetoric, denial, revision, or greatness of war criminals. Efforts to rewrite history -- in Bosnia and Herzegovina or elsewhere -- are unacceptable”, Moghrini and Hahn ordered through a joint statement, commemorating the Srebrenica massacre.
The two European representatives, who in the past five years have had direct work with Balkan countries, underlined the need to end impunity and overcome past heritage.
Today, the 24th anniversary of the Srebrenica Massacre is marked, in which Bosnian Serb forces killed over 8,000 Muslim men and boys.
The Srebrenica massacre has been named the worst in Europe since the end of World War II, while the International Court of The Hague has been recognised as genocide.
