717 civilians had been killed by nato-led and Afghanistan's government forces, compared to 531 by Islamic militants, the UN says.
This data comes at a time when Washington is trying to toughen the war.

Air strikes, most of which were carried out by American warplanes, killed 363 people, including 89 children, in just the first six months of this year.
Washington is holding negotiations with the Taliban to prove reaching a ceasefire agreement, even though at the same time it has intensified its offensive campaign.
