The first democraticly elected president in Tunisia has died at the age of 92, reviving fears of power vacuum before the November elections.
Bay of Caid Essebs, who had been taken to the hospital after serious illness at the end of June, also received intensive health care from this morning after his condition deteriorated. His death was announced by the Sunnisan senior officials, the Guardian, translates Periscopi.
Essebs, who was the second oldest head of state after Queen Elizabeth II, appeared very pale in a video his office had released during a meeting at the defence ministry on Monday.
Politicians and social media users have called for greater transparency on the president's health since his hospitalization, and a growing fear for the country's stability.
Essebs came to power in 2014, three years after the Arab Spring broke out. /Periscope
