The head of the Republic of Kosovo's Parliament, Kadri Veselin, has said today on the notice of the KLA Witnesses' Day of the Mitrovica municipality, that without Mitrovica it would not become the Albanian nation and become Kosovo, neither freedom nor its independent and sovereign state.
The head of the Assembly said that the people of this city, on every page of our national history, are found.
Whatever was fought and acted on the national issue, there were Mitrovica people. They were warriors and chieftains, people of knowledge and culture, miners and intellectuals, activists of student movements and soldiers of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Today, they make us proud of their lives and deeds in the service of our homeland”, Wessel stressed.
He added that it will always remain here because this is our homeland which was bequeathed to the first, and will be left to the next generations. We will never violate anyone and never let anyone violate our freedom, our land, our country, our borders. And today Mitrovica is the most worthy country to make that pledge. Today we are our own gods. Our nation's fate is in our hands”, said Parliament Speaker Kadri Wessel.
He said Serbia has remained two things as far as Kosovo is concerned: to recognise Kosovo's independent and sovereign state and to respond to justice for the genocide exercised on our people during the war. Both of these processes, he added, are necessary and inevitable.
“Freedom is daily work and commitment. Freedom requires, above all, institutional and civic mobilization, to develop the country's economy, to strengthen democracy and rule of law, to create a fair society, equal to all our citizens, a society of perspectives for all, and especially for our young people, our greatest human and development capital, which we have”, highlighted the chief businessman Veeli, adding that this is the vision in the New Decade of Independence, and that's the way to follow, regardless of challenges and obstacles, whatever nature.
We'll never stop. You will not be delivered to any challenge, national or international. Because, we're fellow fighters of these heroes we're remembering today. We are the ones who changed history and will change the present, to make Kosovo a Western country, just as our citizens love martyrs, as Veselin said.
