Sheell: Not appointed mayors of northern municipalities, without accepting Kosovo state

The newly elected mayors of four northern municipalities (Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and North Mitrovica) are continuing the old avaz, refusing to swear before the flag and ahead of the symbols of the Republic of Kosovo. Such actions of the Serbian List are expected to disable “back into the country's north. Fatmir Sheholli, director of the Institute [...]
Fatmir Sheholli, director of the Institute for Affirmation of Interethnic Relations, questioned about the situation in the north, for “Zerin”, has said there is a continuation of the behaviour of members of the Serbian List.
He has estimated that refusing Kosovo's citizenship in turn hinders normal functioning in these municipalities.
“We agree that the behaviour of the mayors of the northern municipalities is a kind of pressure on the central institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. I believe that here the Ministry of Local Power and other Kosovo justice bodies should see clearly what it is about and I believe that here we will have a continuation of the problems with these heads, because they will constantly come contrary to the laws of Kosovo”, he said.
Sheholli, meanwhile, has suggested that newly elected mayors should not be allowed to be appointed without accepting Kosovo citizenship and symbols.
“As far as it is concerned whether they will accept the oath as new chairman of Kosovo's flag and prior to the symbols of Kosovo citizenship, it presents an extraordinary obstacle, because they do not accept even the symbols of the state or anything else. If they do not recognise the symbols and swear before the Kosovo flag, then these persons are not appointed to their post”, he added.
