Mirko Ivanic, together with his friend Filip Stojkovic, had refused to play for Montenegro against Kosovo this month in the 2020 European Championship qualifying match.
This controversial decision has cost two Serbian footballers hard, who will no longer be part of Montenegro's representative team.
Coach Ljubisa Tumbakovic, who because of pressure and threats from Belgrade, had refused to lead Montenegro's team to “Dardians”, had been dismissed from this position by the Montenegrin Football Federation.
Ivanic, who is part of Crvena Zvezda, has shown himself as a diplomat when asked about the famous match against Kosovo, in which Montenegrins equated 1:1 in Podgorica.
Crvena Ziesda's decision is not to speak sensitive things. I don't want to talk about why I decided not to play against Kosovo”, former Vojvodina co-ordinator and BATE Borisov has indicated.
Ivanic has held 15 matches for Montenegro and achieved a goal.
He had scored in last year's friendly against Turkey in Podgorica.
