Mathew Palmer in an interview for Voice of America, stressed that the US recognises June 30th as election day in Albania. The reaction of the senior US diplomat comes a few hours after Meta's decision, which decreed October 13th as the date of the elections.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer, spoke of the “The Voice of America”, regarding the political situation in Albania, stressing that they recognise June 30th as the date of the election.
“We expect the elections to be held on June 30th, to be quiet and fair”, Palmer told the “American Voice”, while the full interview will be broadcast tomorrow.
President Ilir Meta decreed today 13 October as the date for local elections, but Prime Minister Edi Rama continues to insist on holding elections this Sunday.
