The ambassador of Great Britain to Kosovo, Ruairi O'Connell, said societies cannot move forward unless any part of society walks together if a part of society remains marginalised.
“Even conflicts cannot be resolved indefinitely if a part of society remained marginalized or victim and their voice was not heard. The British government is engaged in and voices against sexual violence during the conflict were seen even in 2014 when the global summit's initiative against sexual violence in conflicts was launched. We have been engaged for five years to support the victims in general, as well as we support victims of sexual violence in the conflict”, he said today on public television.
According to him, although there is no violence, there is much sexual violence in Kosovo in the family, but there are no reports of cases because victims of violence know that if victims of sexual violence during the war remain marginalised then how their cases will be resolved.
This remains a problem for society. This crime, sexual violence in the conflict has been deliberate, strategy to terrorise the population, in supporting the target strategy for ethnic cleansing. Unfortunately, there is after silence in Kosovo, and the world this silence hurts the victim and the demand for justice, we are at fault that we have not talked long about this violence”, he said.
