Government officials are claiming there is a decrease in unemployment, but Kosovo Statistics Agency data (ASK) shows there is a constant decline. In 2018 alone, according to the Kosovo Statistics Ent, there are 10,000 jobs in decline compared to last year, while in the first three months of this year, we have a decline of over 6 thousand jobs again. On the other hand, Macedonia has an increase of 50,000 new jobs.
OAK considers that all of this comes as a result of the inadequate non-negotiation of the CEFTA and SAA Agreement.
Below, find the complete communique from the OAK:
OAK is very concerned with the serious state of employment in the country. Increasing unemployment in Kosovo is gaining momentum every year and more, while there are no signs of increased employment, with about 30,000 people appearing each year at work.
This year, even despite statements by government officials that there is a decrease in unemployment, data published by the Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) shows continued decline.
According to the Kosovo Statistics Ent during 2018, we have a decrease of 10,000 jobs compared to 2017, while in the first three months of this year, we have a relapse of over 6,000 jobs again.
In the same period, Macedonia has an increase of 50,000 new jobs.
Kosovo's Afarism Oda considers all of this to be the result of insufficient non-negotiation of the CEFTA and SAA agreement, so OAK calls for the Government of Kosovo to have the top priority of improving the business climate and creating real offers for local and foreign investors.
