The current temperature record is 44.1 degrees Celsius, measured during a hot wave in 2003 that killed thousands of people.
While the national weather service has issued red alarm for four regions south.
Most of the country remains in orange alert, second highest level.
Germany, France, Poland and the Czech Republic have registered the highest temperatures in June, while in Spain firefighters have been struggling with the worst of Catalonia fires in 20 years.
In southern France, in the areas of Gard, Vauclus, Heracul and Bouches-du-Rhone, temperatures are expected today to reach between 42 degrees Celsius and 45 degrees Celsius.
