Could a meal of Brazil nuts reduce cholesterol faster than statin drugs and maintain that rate after a month? This was one of the craziest discoveries I've ever seen.
Researchers (where other than Brazil?) gave ten men and women a single meal containing between one and eight Brazil nuts. Surprisingly, compared with the group that had not eaten any nuts, only one meal of Brazil nuts quickly improved cholesterol levels. The level of bad cholesterol LDL was down by twenty points just nine hours after Brazil's nuts were eaten. Even drugs don't work so quickly.

Here's the craziest part: The researchers returned after 30 days and measured the cholesterol of the students. Even a month after eating a single Brazil nut meal, their cholesterol level continued to be low.
Usually, when a study is published in medical literature showing such impressive results, doctors expect a repeat of the results before changing clinical practice and recommending something new to patients, especially if the study is conducted only in ten subjects and the results are so incredible to be true. But when intervention is free, simple, harmless and healthy (it is only about four Brazil nuts per month) then, in my opinion, the evidence is considered successful and there is no reason for opposition. This can be taken for granted until proven otherwise.
Although eating them in large quantities is not advisable. Brazil's nuts are very rich in selenium mineral and eating them every day can increase the tolerant amount of selenium in your body. However, you need not worry about it if you eat only four Brazil nuts a month.
