The head of the Republic of Kosovo's Parliament, Kadri Wessel, has visited the Association “Parents' office” in Mitrovica, where he met with representatives of the missing associations.
Addressing the family of the found, Chief Prime Minister Veselin said the main credit for the initiative to establish the tribunal for Serbia's crimes, the families of the victims and the found, with their two-decade resistance and constant demand for justice.
Since the beginning of my work as head of the Parliament, I've come closer to pictures of people who are not found and I've done favors. We've tried and searched for information about the missing, but we haven't been given answers. Until 2017 Kosovo has had no right to address the war crimes issue. In 2017 we have signed agreements with EULEX for the first time, and competencies have been held to local institutions”, Chief Prime Minister Wessel stressed.
He said he has entered this very important process not only for the families of the victims but also for the state.
A people who forget, the story is recycled. It's things that have to do with our truth. I have written a letter to all the parliaments in the world. We should thank the American Congress, which is the first to take this step. For the first time at the American Congress, the Commission for Foreign Policy, respectively, has been held public hearings on violations, murders and disappearances in Kosovo. So we will continue in the parliaments of other countries. We are in constant communication”, Wessel stressed. He added that there are many witnesses and evidence that must be prosecuted. “The aim of the initiative for international tribulal for Serbia is to bring those who committed crimes to justice. And we won't leave them alone until the end. On Thursday we will make the decision to establish the state commission. I've met law experts, boys and girls who are sure this initiative can go all the way. Believe in this process and we will go to the end of”, Chief Prime Minister Wessel stressed.
Bajram Qerkeyni from the Association “Parents' voice” said the initiative by Chief Parliamentary Veselin for establishing an international court that would judge Serbian crimes on the innocent Albanian population during the war is being carefully conveyed. Highly praising this initiative and offering full support to Prime Minister Veselin, Qerkeyni said it should contribute all to its realisation so that Serb criminals can be captured and held accountable for the crimes committed.
We've heard the chairman's attention most recently, in his initiative. The Speaker of the Assembly has also done an extremely big job, which few have done, not in Kosovo, but in Europe, with the exhibition of the found. That exhibition was also seen in New York City. Also concrete proposals for the construction of the genocide and memorial museum for the outcasts are highly shot acts, and we have full confidence that Chief Prime Minister Kadri Wessel will be able to realise”, Bajram Qerkeyni stressed.
