This march was held in protest of publishing a photograph in the Kosovo Assembly, which was presented as evidence of sexual violence during the war but turned out to be photographic from pornographic films.
Feride Rushiti, the Kosovar Centre for the rehabilitation of Torture Survivors, asked Kosovo institutions to support the victims.
Rushiti conveying the message of victims of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo said published images do not belong to parliament, but to the court.
Survivors of sexual violence during the war need dignity and justice. It remains for the assembly to take responsibility for the damage. Such images have no place in parliament, but in court”
We seek the country's institutions for survivors of sexual violence to be supported. Today more than ever, survivors need solidarity for our support. We seek justice and dignity”, she said.
While a representative from the media organisation Kosova said that with the publication of photography in the Parliament, the work done so far has been missed.
This is because with the pain and concern caused by the publication of that photograph, victims and representatives of organisations dealing with their treatment have returned in 99.
The first several days with severe and highly sensitive images has caused much suffering, anxiety, frustration and retraumatisation of sexually violent survivors during the war in Kosovo. This event has brought our efforts to ruin during the war. You returned us in 1999. We will not stop, support, respect and treat our heroes with dignity. We tell those who tried to use the pain of victims for political points that we will not allow the violence of the victims to be misused for other purposes. We call on prosecutors and justice bodies to make the truth clear of the scandal made a few days ago”.
After the end of the march, the banners, which conveyed the message of victims of sexual violence during the war, were placed in the surrounding area of the Parliament until the demand for election by marching participants was heard.
Part of this march, besides representatives of the organisations, were the ambassador of Great Britain, Ruairi O'Connell, former President Atifete Jahjaga, MP Mimoza Kusari-Lila and dozens of citizens.
