On the 20th anniversary of the massacre that Serbian forces orchestrated against prisoners in the Dubrava prison, the situation was overcome when the former survivor of this massacre, Shefqet Kabashi, appeared before those in attendance and addressed the heads of institutions that they did not deserve to be present in this manifestation.
Meanwhile, the programme's moderator was trying to keep the situation under control, former Kosovo Liberation Army member addressed several former survivors of the Dubrava massacre, even mentioning them with names such as Hajredin Kuci and Nat Hasani, who, according to him, have called him traitors.
Marre must come with you, you shouldn't be here... whatever protocol I'm told by these guys are traitors, the towny Kuchi and the townie Nitzi and his friends, I'm not a traitor, I'm a freedom fighter... You've taken our bread, we want a democratic state, not a communist”, he said.
While Kosovo Penitentiary Director Nehat Thaci was the first to try to prevent Kabashi even strongly trying to get rid of him, telling him that he has who decides here.
“There's who decides the order here, if you don't pull yourself out, get him out of here”, he said.
And leaving the Dubrava prison facilities, Kabashi accompanied by loud cops said you made us worse than the Serbs.
“I eat Albanian you have made us worse than the”, Kabashi said.
Present at this manifestation where the massacres at the Dubrava prison were being commemorated was also Kosovo Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselini and many former survivors of this massacre, who demanded that those who committed this crime be punished after the perpetrators said they were known.
In the Dubrava massacre, from May 19th to May 24th 1999, more than 160 prisoners were killed, while more than 300 survived the massacre.
Otherwise, Shefqet Kabashi was the main witness in the judicial process against Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who from The Hague tribunal had been sentenced to two months' removal of freedom for “intentional refusal to answer prosecutors' questions”.
Kabashi had refused to testify against Haradinaj in the past judicial process, when Kosovo's prime minister was acquitted.
