EU reacts after Brnabisic's insulting, racist statements to Kosovars

The European Union has reacted after statements by Serbia's prime minister, Anna Bernabiq, that in Kosovo, according to state officials “who have really come out of the mountain”, considering that any rhetoric that is insulting, confrontational and split is against the spirit of co-operation and reconciliation that the region needs to move forward. In a response to Radio Free Europe, Maja Kocijanciq, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Federica Moghrini, has said that the “events of the last few days have clearly shown that dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade should result in a stable and long-term agreement for normalisation of relations” and that the status quo is not possible.
Following the Serbian prime minister's statement during the day, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, who has said that the language used by Serbia's prime minister, Anna Brnabiq, is also a “further evidence of the pathological hatred of Serbia's current regime against Kosovo citizens”.
Bernabiq has made these comments in the presence of European Union Ambassador to Serbia Sam Fabrizi, so Thaci has asked the EU as soon as possible to condemn and distance it from this racist “language of Serbian officials, which, according to him, promotes hatred and undermines efforts for reconciliation and normalisation.
Kosovo and Serbia have launched negotiations on normalising relations, with EU mediation in 2011.
The negotiation process is currently stuck, due to, as it has been said, the 100 per cent tax Kosovo Government has imposed on products imported from Serbia.
