He through a Twitter post said this appointment undermines confidence in merit-based election processes.
“Ende concerned about the appointment of Naser Shala to an important position in the government without qualifying. This undermines citizens' confidence in the selection processes based on merit and the ability of AKKVP to fulfil the mandate requested by Dialogue”, Costet wrote.
The American ambassador had reacted earlier to Naser Shala's appointment in this position.
He had supported the British Embassy's opposition to the process in Kosovo.
Notably, Ambassador Ruair O'Connell had resigned from his position as chairman of the board.
“Location had cancelled the first process. In the second from the recruiting process, it came out transparently and meritably, only a candidate who met the necessary criteria. The recruiting reports, made by the project implementation partner, were distributed with all chiefs of parliamentary groups in the Kosovo Assembly. Unfortunately, the Assembly failed to elect the only candidate to meet the criteria and instead named the candidate who was not eligible according to professional estimates”, the Birtan Embassy's statement said. “This is clearly a violation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the British Embassy and the Kosovo Assembly.
The “is the special right of Kosovo institutions to appoint suitable candidates from the list of candidates meeting the” criteria.
Whatever the candidate selection that did not meet the necessary criteria, institutions have shown not only a lack of commitment to implementing the joint project, but, more importantly, the lack of commitment to KPCVA's mandate and work of”. This decision according to them questions whether the majority of Kosovo's Parliament has the political will to implement merit appointments”, said further in response to this embassy.
“as a result of this unfair decision, Britain's ambassador has said his resignation from the position of KPCVA board chairman. His resignation letter has been delivered to special EU representatives. He has thanked the current leaders and KPVCA staff for the professionalism and dedication shown during his term at the helm of the board and wants them and the organisation to have any future success”, the British Embassy's announcement concluded.
