Kosovo looks to tourism again involved in Balkan guidas (Video)

Since 2011, when prestige “The York Times” included Kosovo among the 41 countries to visit, it seems that the tourism sector in Kosovo has not had any particular attention. The state, with a capital inviting everyone with the monument “Newborn”, even though it extends into a small geographic space, offers good opportunities.

Kosovo seems to have turned its attention to tourism. As an isolated and visa liberalised country, they seek to be part of the Balkan tourist guide. For that reason there are 70 foreign tour operators visiting Kosovo, starting from Pristina to succeed Prizren, to find out what this country can offer from a tourist and cultural point of view.

A first greeting is a photograph of a variety of flags and the message of a multidimensional world. The first visit is the Kosovo Museum. The next stop is Mother Teresa's cathedral in Pristina. The idea proposed by former President Ibrahim Rugova, though he himself belonged to the Muslim religion.

We think the best economic development, especially for Prizren's municipality, could come from tourism”, says Mytaher Haskuka, mayor of Prizren municipality.

“Tourism is a major factor in one country's economy and, second, is a very important factor in employment”, said Baki Hoti, chairman of the Kosovo Alternative Tourism Association.

The next day of this two-day tour is Prizren's Czech, with a large number of tourist and cultural objects. The first location is the Hamamat of the City. Old Town invites you to Sinan Pasha Mosque. Built by river stones since 1615, it features one of Prizren's most characteristic monuments. Although a Muslim country in a triangle, Prizren, besides the mosque, also offers the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Cathedral, bringing a blend of three religions.

I think the most interesting thing is how people live together in different religions”, says a tourist from Texas.

“I have a strong recommendation for each of those who visit the Balkans: They should also come to Kosovo. People are very friendly, flexible, you can even travel here by visa Schengen if you're not from Europe. I think Kosovo does very well to promote tourism and wish good luck to”, said Sanjay Gupta, tourist agent from Thailand.

From what I have discussed with my colleagues, who have come from all parts of the world almost, they have remained surprised by the hospitality they have received in Kosovo”, said Brikela Beyko, tourist agent.

Kosovo, a small country but with a blend of cultures, traditional food, generous hospitality and natural beauty, is ready to host tourists.
