The European Parliament has approved a proposal by the EU Commission to change the Schengen visa policy, including increased visa spending, writes RHSchengen Visa Infoú.
These changes have been made to facilitate travel to the Schengen Zone for tourism, trade and business, as well as to facilitate domestic security.
If the Council approves changing the EU Visa Code within the next two months by the end of the year, all applicants would have to pay a fee of 80 euros instead of 60 euros as it was.
EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs Migration and Citizen Dimitris Avaramopoulos welcomed the move, praising that new regulations will help improve EU security standards.
The new rules will facilitate tourism, trade and business by increasing our security standards to discover those who present threat or lack the right to enter the EU. They will also help improve co-operation with non-EU member states in the return and re-admission of irregular immigrants.”, Avramoopoulos said.
62 countries do not need a visa to visit the EU. Kosovo and Turkey are among the countries that are in the process of reaching out that a visa liberalisation agreement with the EU.
