Albania's opposition-backed candidate, Blerim Reka, at an exit to his headquarters and journalists said he leads all municipalities where Albanians live.
He said he even leads in a large margin -- virtually 3 to 1, towards other candidates.
He accused the ruling parties of having had great pressure on Albanian voters, and the electorate has been detained.
However, he said he was optimistic because in more than 50 per cent of the votes counted so far, he has received over 50,000 votes, and that means many, according to him.
Reka further said this cast of votes “Reka for Republika” warns a new spring for the country and will soon have new parliamentary elections.
He added that he disagrees with this president's electoral system, suggesting that, as it works, it cannot be functional by proposing or increasing the competencies of the President of the Republic or the president to be elected by Parliament if the competencies continue these.
