Wessel: PDK in each branch will have a female deputy chairman

Kosovo Parliament Speaker, at once leader of The PDK, Kadri Veselini, has said “the widow's week” that the party he heads is wide open towards giving responsibilities to women and young people.

He said several PDK branches have markedly increased the number of gender representations, while in some branches there are youth leaders.

“The PDK in the internal electoral process has decided to significantly increase the number of representation of women while we have decided that each branch will have a female vice president. This is an important step because we are parties that believe in the role and power of women in developing the country. Women represent half the population so we'll give them all the necessary space”, Vessel said.

Speaking to dozens of women in the “Women's Week”, which is organised by the NDI, Wessel said Kosovo's vaccines are already evidence that they are successful not only inside but also abroad, citing the examples of Majlinda Kelmendi, Rita Ora, I want Lipa and others.

And as many as Majlinda, Rita, and I want others, they are among us. For them to show their talent, their creative potential, we must transform Kosovo into a society of equal prospects for women and her men. Only by taking practical steps in this regard can we achieve concrete results in eliminating gender discrimination practices, which are still present throughout our society”, Wessel noted.

The policy inclusion of women, their integrity in state, central and local institutions, is the way to follow so that one day gender equality can be understood as a natural fact of our social and institutional life.
