Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison has condemned statements made by Turkey's president, Recep Tayip Erdogan, after the New Zealand massacre, warning that his country will consider “, however, options to review reports with Turkey, reports the report.
“Declarations made by Turkish President Erdogan I appreciate very offensive to Australians and reckless in this very sensitive situation” said Prime Minister Morrison.
Turkish President Erdogan earlier said anti-Muslim Australians would return to the coffin their grandparents at Gallipoli (Canakalay), the site of a bloody World War I battle.
More than 8,000 Australian and New Zealand soldiers died fighting Turkish forces near the coastal city, and the battle is considered a major event in the two countries' stories.
Citizens of the two countries each year travel to Gallipoli in April to mark the anniversary of the battle.
Prime Minister Morrison said Erdogan has offended the memory of Australian and New Zealand soldiers.
; I wait, and I have asked, that these comments be clarified, to withdraw”, Morrison said.
A 28-year-old Australian, believed to be a white primacy, has been charged with murder in the March 15th mass attacks on two mosques in New Zealand, which left 50 people dead.
The suspect wrote a manifesto involving anti-Muslim tones.
