LDK MP Vjosa Osmani has directed criticism of the European Union in terms of delays in visa liberalisation for Kosovo. According to her, the EU must keep its word, and that it is meaningless that they have already begun negotiations on visa liberalisation with China, meanwhile, continue to hold on Kosovo.
It is now the EU's turn to respect the word given, and Italy has an extremely important vote at the European Council”, Osmani has said of Serbian media.
Osmani has recalled the fact that Kosovo has already met all 95 criteria for visa liberalisation. She says that if the EU does not liberalise visas for Kosovars, then it will lose credibility in the eyes of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
“We hope that soon the EU Council will discuss the issue, as it is also an aspect that concerns human rights. We are risking entering a ghetto in the heart of Europe”, LDK deputy said.
According to Osmani, it is incomprehensible how the EU has left out of its umbrella -- a small country of 1.7 million people -- when it already negotiates visa liberalisation even with large countries like China.
The LDK MP says it is unfair to link the immigration issue with visa liberalisation.
She says Italy can have a very important role, being a promoter of the demands of the Republic of Kosovo at the European level.
You are a country that saved our lives 20 years ago, as the people of Kosovo were subject to genocide policies and war crimes against humanity. Twenty years later, as an independent and sovereign state, Kosovo is trying to overcome a series of obstacles to the process of consolidation and strengthening of the state, so that it can also contribute to the peace of the region”, Osmani has added. /GazetaExpress/
