In presenting the annual fund report for humanitarian law, Kandic has said that justice for war crimes in Kosovo has not reached the right level.
She has expressed disappointment with the work of the judiciary in Kosovo as regards gathering evidence and witness protection.
He has also pursued a demand that war crimes in Kosovo be the subject as a priority in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
I have come to the conclusion that the situation when we talk about war crimes is similar to the entire territory of Yugoslavia. Justice didn't reach the level we wanted” it said.
Another issue is witness protection. To what extent are witnesses encouraged by political approach? We still see changes of statements by witnesses.
“When we talk about war crimes in Kosovo is a lack of co-operation between prosecutor's offices in Serbia and in Kosovo”
One of the priorities in normalising Kosovo Serb relations is discussing war crimes issues in Kosovo in dialogue.
We see how many prosecutors and judicial college are missing something. The defendant has been released. we as NGOs are absolutely convinced that all the statements given have been seen. Then everyone made an independent statement. Now when we see the judgments, we see that the court has failed to collect evidence and evidence and then judges that are very limited and therefore due to lack of evidence these perpetrators that we are certain are, are released. ”
