According to Kosovo Police data, from a January of this year until now 22 people have lost their lives, nine of whom were pedestrians.

In most cases, the cause of this is neglect and disrespect of traffic regulations. It worries him that the devastating part of the victims suffered at pedestrian crossings.

Irresponsible drivers who are not respecting signs in communications are risking the lives of citizens who move to pedestrian crossings, increasing the number of fatal accidents.

So Pristina Road Traffic Police Commander Milaim Feyzullahu told Kosovo Radio. He says the drivers' carelessness is costing citizens life.

And we have nine accidents, unfortunately, which were initially accidents with serious bodily injuries and then passed on fatal accidents. The next disaster is all these accidents are involved in pedestrians”, he said.

Fyzulah says we are making efforts to achieve results to prevent these accidents by the end of the year.

He says that if citizens are hit in zebras, they are by no means guilty of blaming drivers who are not respecting signs of communication.

If the pedestrians are in the zebra, by no means, they can be guilty, because the zebra infantry every time has the advantage of the crossing, but unfortunately we have cases that are happening in downtown Pristina. This is simply about the indiscretion of drivers who are not respecting the signs, especially pedestrian crossings, so for this reason we have the consequences of”, he said.

Fyzullu says that there are times when the digital roads lack signal, but in the most frequent cases, conditions such as overpasses, subpasses, depending on where the need is, and when these are lacking, citizens are at risk of crossing barriers and in these cases there are fatal accidents.
