For this reason it is very important to advance and further co-operation and to make better co-ordination between the two countries, both in terms of operational planning and technical planning. A point of great importance and interest is also the planning of joint investments in the creation of new energy capacities.
That was the conclusion that came out of the meeting the two managers of the Energy Corporations, Njazi Thaci, Director of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) and Bennett Beci, Administrator of the Albanian Electronic-Energy Corporation (KESH).
The main goal of the meeting was to coordinate a joint platform of energy sector policies that are in the interest of two states and, above all, in the interest of consumers so that this stability in supply and preserve the consumer price by dominant local production and lowering to minimum import from other countries.
KESH Manager Bennett Beci after the meeting said that, “It is a pleasure to be further advanced in co-operation between the two companies. This meeting will continue further with other meetings, aimed at maximum exploitation of respective countries' capacities aimed at achieving a stable energy market, which is accompanied by sustainable economic growth”.
On the other hand, KEK Managing Director Nijazi Thaci has said some concrete steps are being made to advance co-operation between KEK and KESH.
Co-operation with the Albanian Electronic Corporation has been working well for years and is advancing more with significant steps in the interest not only of corporations, but of the energy sector at large. So we're always close to each other to help out in case of emergencies in exchange for electricity, whenever we need each other, and that electricity 1 to 1. We have started talks to advance this co-operation in technical terms as well, to see the possibilities of joint financing in new production capacities. Currently, we have begun harmonising the time of capital resources and the revisions of our operating units. This will create better opportunities for us to have more energy available as well as not to be out of production at the same time KEK's thermal power plants and KESH Hydrocentrics”, KEK managing director Nyazi Thaci said during this meeting.
In the end, the two directors agreed to set up working groups to further draft a long-term strategy of co-operation between KEK and KESH.
