And if the artificial intelligence system, built by one of the world's richest companies, could not identify and take appropriate action, then what can identify?
Mike Schroepfer, chief of Facebook technology, boasted in a recent interview in Fortune magazine, how good artificial intelligence was to identify the difference between brocol and marijuana.
In an example, Schroepfer demonstrated how the system could determine 90% with certainty which image there was Brocoli and which contained marijuana.
But Haney Farid professor in Dartmouth says artificial intelligence is years away from being able to do sophisticated things that people do very well.
“Machines, they can't even say the difference between brocol and marijuana, let alone whether a video is from a movie, video game, or documenting war crimes, or there's a crazy man killing people in a” mosque, Farid said.
In November Facebook realised a report on how it was keeping its platform under control. It was said that between July and September last year 99.5% of “terrorist component” before users reported posts and 96.8% of “violence and graphic content”.
Controling a platform of billions of free and open people to share their thoughts, videos, and photos is not an easy task.
Facebook has made it clear that he is committed to investigating both, including artificial intelligence and human controllers.
CNN Business on Friday asked Facebook if they could have a reflection of what artificial intelligence they might have, or they should have to discover videos like this, but the company didn't respond immediately.
