European Council Officials the Name Northern Macedonia

The Council of Europe officially registered the country under the new name “North Macedonia”.

On the website of the oldest pan-European organisation, the Council of Europe, whose headquarters is in Strasbourg, the country is now officially registered as Northern Macedonia, according to the alphabetical order of English member states.

Northern Macedonia, as a member state, is now located between Holland and Norway, while until the change of name the country was under temporary reference “Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” and was between Switzerland and Turkey. So the Macedonian flag waves in front of the European Palace in Strasbourg, between the flags of the Netherlands and Norway.

The name change has also been made on the site of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Assembly delegation has been represented as a delegation of the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

But on the map on which the Council of Europe member states are located and their top centres have not yet been changed, and the name of the country is based on reference.

The Republic of Northern Macedonia became a member of the Council of Europe on November 9, 1995, as a 38-member state. During the country's accession, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe sent an invitation to become a member, but the name of the country invited to become a member of the Council of Europe was not cited at the invitation. / MIA/
