Over 70 Kosovars killed in Syria, 152 women and children are still there

In mid 2012 the first cases of Kosovo's departure to the conflict zone in Syria and then Iraq have been recorded.

Kosovo police have shown that since then, so far there are 253 male-gender people attached to them I SIS.

The “since 2012 and so far there are 253 male-gender people who at different times have travelled to the conflict zone and who are treated as foreign terrorist fighters”, the Kosovo Police response reported.

According to Kosovo Police data, in the conflict area these people have joined women and children.

“These “fighters” have been attached to their family, to the conflict area, including 51 women and 52 children”, police suggest.

Even after seven years, Kosovars are still present in these areas.

Currently, according to data in the conflict zone there are 44 women, 48 children born in the conflict area

Since 2012 and so far, a total of 132 people who had joined this conflict have returned to Kosovo, among them being six women and six children.

The number of returning persons to Kosovo or even in other countries where they traveled is 132, including 120 men, 6 women and 6 children”, police have announced.

Throughout this period of time, 76 men from Kosovo have been killed in the conflict zone in Syria and Iraq.

The number of dead persons in the conflict area is 79 persons, of whom 76 men of the male sex killed, while 3 persons, including a male-gender person, female gender person and a child born in the conflict area are reported to have died from natural causes”, police have suggested.

During these years there have been also persons arrested.

According to the Kosovo Police, 155 persons have been arrested since 2013 in the fight against terrorism until 2018.

Mostly arrested there were in 2014, where police had managed to arrest 81 people.

In the meantime, the entire year we left behind - in 2018 - the Kosovo Police have arrested eight people.

Otherwise the latest case of the killing of Kosovars in the conflict area is marked on March 5th of this year, where a woman from the village of Karacheva in Kamenica.

The 30-year-old girl from this village, Nisret Kastrati in the conflict area, had gone along with her husband and two children, but her husband had long since been killed in this conflict.

At the same time, her two daughters are left without any parents in the dangerous areas of Syria.
