The worst balance comes from Vale D'Aosta, northwest of Italy, where five people have lost their lives and one of them have disappeared.
Meanwhile, at the Courmayeur station, three tourists have been found frozen in the snow.
In Bolzano, an 18-year-old boy occupied by an avalanche near the Italian-austriak border, was found axified under the snow.
There have also been victims in Switzerland, where an avalanche has claimed the lives of two people.
The situation is the most critical in Italy, where avalanches have blocked a highway for several miles, causing tremendous traffic.
