Talat Xhaferi has a suggestion about Kosovo- Serbia

After Macedonia managed to resolve its 30-year name conflict with Greece, the country's doors to NATO membership opened.

Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi says they make an effort for Kosovo to be present in international organisations as well.

Referring to Macedonia's experience, in the conflicts dealing with neighbours, Xhaferi suggests that their experiences be exploited and Kosovo does not allow the long process with Serbia.

Xhaferi has demanded that the processes not last for decades

“As a normal neighbouring country that makes the effort for Kosovo to be present in all international bodies and actions that occur, and for this reason I think it belongs to the institutions of Kosovo and the people of Kosovo, that even by referring to our three decade-old experience on issues related to neighbouring Kosovo institutions, it doesn't mean the suggestion is that those experiences will be exploited and not allow for decades-long processes to be found that will be acceptable for the people of Kosovo, for Kosovo and normal Kosovo institutions, for the fact that the two parties have issues to make with and the two bilateral reports... These are issues that whenever there is a decision, agreement, conform to what the expectations of citizens” are, he says.

In Kosovo, it is said that a final agreement with Serbia could occur within this year.

However, dialogue is currently stalled, since the Serbian side is not responding to the table in Brussels following the 100% tax, which the Government of Kosovo has imposed on products coming from Serbia, in response to the fierce campaign of the neighbouring state in Kosovo's foreign policy.
