The Dutch Supreme Court must bring down a ruling that holds this country partly responsible for the death of about 300 Muslim males in Bosnia's Srebrenica in 1995.
Supreme Court chief prosecutor Paul Vlas said that a Dutch appeals court, in 2017, has made the unintelligible “ruling” counting on the findings that Dutch peacekeepers have not done enough to protect men who have sought refuge at their base.
The prosecutor's opinion will be considered when the court makes its final decision on April 19th, Transmitting re!.
In total, 8,000 Muslim men and boys have been killed by Bosnian Serb forces, under the command of General Ratko Mladic, in July 1995 at Srebrenica.
Murders have been considered the worst massacre on European soil since World War II.
Many of the victims have fled to Srebrenica, a safe zone declared by UN peacekeepers but Dutch troops have not been able to protect them.
The Dutch government has resigned in 2002 after acknowledging its failure to protect the victims, but has said peacekeepers have been in the impossible <x0->mission”.
In the initial decision in 2014, Dutch soldiers had to know that males would be killed by Bosnian Serb forces if they were forced to leave the base.
