Kosovo Police General Director Rashit Qalaj in a statement to the Balkans.info comments on the recent scandal, where an investigative policeman allegedly sexually mishandled a 16-year-old minor from Drenas.
Kosovo's “opinion has unfortunately been informed yesterday of a case of a colleague of ours who allegedly mishandled official duty by sexually misusing a minor. The colleague was suspended yesterday at the request of the Kosovo Police Inspector and has also been arrested for the work he allegedly carried out”, Qalaj said.
He estimates this is shocking news for each citizen of Kosovo, for each Kosovo Police officer and for the entire police management.
“Doubts about carrying out this act are or give a very bad message because we are dealing with a police official, with a man in uniform, with a man who has vowed to enforce the law, to protect the citizen, and always the policeman is considered and should be considered by the citizen as the first person to defend property, life and all the other”, Qalaj told the Balkans.
We as police officials are also parents, and most of the police have children and a suspicion of such a case from both human and human terms, and by the official aspect, are very serious, unacceptable, and strongly judge. I as the general director of the police consider that doubts about such cases at no time will occur and will not have to be tolerated at any moment because our citizens, our children, if abused by the official person who is called to defend then who is the message”, he points out.
According to Qalajt, this event will lead to numerous inspection-control activities under Kosovo Police at that police station as well.
Let's do more in the establishment and integrity of the police and all those who clash with all of this, who conflict with the code of ethics, have no place in the Kosovo Police. So, my message is to all citizens of Kosovo, and also to all Kosovo Police officials to work hard, to treat people with dignity, to treat all people in the best way possible, to enforce the law in their own order and behavior, with their contribution, with their activities, with their work, to reflect the security of the citizen of Kosovo and all the other citizens who may be in Kosovo, and who are not from Kosova<1>, has said at the end of the Porlaj, Perisko broadcast.
