The workers of the Kosovo Energy Corporation(KEK) protested in front of the Kosovo government for opposing the Law of Salaries, which called on Kosovo's president not to decree this law, which was adopted days earlier in the Kosovo Assembly.
The deputy head of KEK's new trade union, Nexhat Llumnica, saying this corporation was introduced to the Law for Unregistered, confirmed that Government and Parliament, instead of stimulating this powerful corporation in Kosovo, are willing to destroy it.
From here we call on President Hashim Thaci not to decree this law, the very amendments involving Kosovo's energy corporation. We call on the Kosovo Parliament to review this law and to be in favour of public companies and public enterprises, not in their degradation. From here we call on relevant institutions, that we will not remain calm, we will not tolerate being in this Law for salary. We do not deserve to be here, and if this mistake does not improve, we will continue with protests and strikes until the implementation of our” demand, Llumnica says.
Representatives of the COST Union, where the chairman of this Ademi Gashi union, have also attended the protest, have said that COSTT workers' demands are similar to those at KEK.
Gashi has said that they will not sit back until the requirements are met.
We will continue (with protests) until all our demands are met. We won't stop”, Gashi said.
While, alongside this protest by KEK officials, PTK's Union Federation has also been chairman.
Lamih Balaj, president of the Federation, has said the error with the Law of Salaries should be adjusted, on the contrary, by strikes and protests.
It's God, this mistake that officials have made right. Don't be forced into the streets because it's not our desire to go out on the street. We ask once again not to make mistakes”, Balaj stressed.
While BSPK Chairman Avni Aydin, who took part in the protest, has said the KEK workers' demands are legitimate and fair because they are not seeking charity but the workers' leadership.
I think you're defending your legitimate, fundamental and personal dignity. And I'm behind you, too, that we're never going to drop”, Aydin stressed.
In the end, Llumnica has also called for a meeting with President Hashim Thaci for presenting reasonable requirements by the new KEK Union. /
