MPs from all parties in Kosovo unanimously ask Rama: Do not hold summit in Durres

Denying Recak's massacre by the state of Serbia has among many other reasons, political parties in Kosovo ask Albania for another approach towards Serbia and cancel the Durres summit among three countries -- Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia -- to establish the so-called “minin-sengenin” Balkan. The four parliamentary parties, [...]
The four parliamentary parties, including the two October 6th election parties in Kosovo, Vetevendosje and LDK, say they cannot talk about any regional co-operation with a state that denies its crimes.
Vetevendosje leader Albulen Haxhiu voiced opposition to such meetings, alone now when the genocide committed in Kosovo by Serbia is openly denied.
“This process will be in Serbia's full service and not on other states which are allegedly interested. This process has advance or interest only Serbia. In this case, not for the Republic of Kosovo and Albania. Therefore, Albania has had to see Serbia with the eyes Kosovo sees, with eyes seeing Kosovo citizens Serbia. But this approach is lacking in the Albanian government. We have had contacts and told Serbia to be punished for actions towards Kosovo, because we are talking about the same nation that is the Albanian nation and two states that are unjustly divided. But unfortunately he had a different approach. We are against such meetings, where Kosovo is not involved and against such meetings when we are talking about a president who denies the crimes that have occurred in Kosovo. But let's not forget that approach is behind Serbia from the end of Kosovo”, she says.
Against this regional co-operation, LDK elected MP Anton Quinn, who says Serbia must first face its past.
“What co-operation and what mini-sengen can be spoken of by a state that denies its crimes, which continues not to return the bodies of those killed who never apologized and repented of all those murders, massacres and deportations that he committed in our country. I think that Serbia, first should face its own criminal past, it would help her first as well as the peace and prosperity of the entire region. As long as this does not happen, Serbia should not be seen as partner of democratic countries who had condemned its crimes to 1999”, says Quinn for Kosovas.
The former head of the PDK parliamentary group, elected MP Memli Krasniqi, seeking the annulment of the summit in Durres, says that the approach of the Albanian state must be changed towards Serbia, as in this form by denying crimes, it cannot be moved forward.
“The emphasis on genocide being committed by Serbia in Kosovo, particularly the Recak massacre, is not only unacceptable but also punishable. In this context, I think that Kosovo's institutions are undoubtedly, but other countries of the region, first of all, Albania must address this approach much more seriously. Have another approach in relation to Serbia. Despite the need to advance reports at the regional level, we cannot focus on this part of development and co-operation that might be for the region to move forward, and put aside a criminal, historical revolution that is pushing Serbia's president of Vuciq and others. This framework I think even the approach of the Albanian state should be much more serious in this direction. Without changing access to the Serbian state, there is no room to move forward”, Krasniqi says.
While AAK deputy chairman Ardian Gjini calls for reaction from all of Kosovo's friendly countries to deny the Recak massacre, while saying such statements should stop any co-operation between states.
“The brutalization of one of the most serious crimes that has occurred in Kosovo, knowing that many other macabre crimes have occurred, the massacre is a sign that we are facing a neighbour that he does not plan to see what happened in the past. It's not a denial of the past, for past sake. But it's denial of the past, for the sake of what might happen. It's heavy, very painful, it's unforgivable... it's a whole new situation. I think all countries should react. Especially should our friendly countries react, and especially Albania ... I think there should be such reactions that will suggest that such statements that highlight such an attitude are extremely harmful and unacceptable”, he says.
Attempts to form a <x0minute-sengeni” Balkans started about two months ago, where the three leaders, Vuciq, initially - Rama-Zaev have met in Novi Sad of Serbia, then in Ohrid, northern Macedonia. It is for the 21st of December to meet in Durres, Albania.
This initiative is being viewed as both politically and economically dangerous for Kosovo.
