American Economic Oda in Kosovo, has organised a table to discuss Kosovo's alarming results on test P ISA and the impact on the private sector.
The test results were said at the table P The ISA should serve as a reference point for state institutions in revising the country's educational system.
Besim Krasniqi, economic affairs researcher as well as university professor, said the test results P ISA is not surprising at all, considering that developing Kosovo teaching programmes and methodology does not enable students to apply practical knowledge in specific context. He added that inadequate development of creativity in students has implications in the private sector, which on the other hand cannot affect improving the quality of education without a proactive role of state institutions for dialogue in this respect.
Gresa Statovci, an education consultant, said that viewed from the economic perspective, improving the quality of education is the main parameter for the country's further development. She added that under efforts to improve the state of the education system, Kosovo is implementing the framework of the new education curriculum, which with adequate improvements would bring better results to test P ISA, and therefore a more prepared workforce. Statovci stressed that it is necessary in drafting education policies to include the private sector in order to reduce the gap between demand and labour market supply.
On the other hand, psychologist as well as university professor Naim Telaku, psychologically elaborized several factors that may have contributed to poor results in the PISA test, such as inadequate curriculum, inadequate use of technology, emotional difficulties, and the failure to function the parent-child triangle. Often the role of educators and their approach as incompetitive authority results in decomposing students who at the same time face constant pressure from their parents for better results. Telaku called for implementation of all necessary guidelines from the programme P ISA for improving the education system, integrating private sector assistance here. The Telaku, among other things, spoke of the need for an approach that combines emotional intelligence with the development of cognitive abilities.
