In that country, flames and smoke could be seen according to the Associated Press as gunfire and sirens were heard.
There was no confrontation by Iraqi or American officials, but this happened after chaotic hours after reports of American attacks on Iranian-backed militia.
Reuters, citing an anonymous foreign affairs official, claimed that the embassy staff and the American ambassador to Baghdad were evacuated, while hundreds of protesters went in, Periscope follows.

American officials have not yet confirmed news of reports that the staff has been evacuated, but they have been very concerned about diplomatic security since the bomb in the car that had exploded in 1983 by destroying the American mission in Beirut, and the bombings at the embassies of this country in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.
Much is already uncertain. The images of Al Jazeera are showing protesters breaking embassy windows. /Periscope
