The Fischer-century match. Spassky appears in theatre on 18 January

We all know what the Cold War was, a frozen conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union. However, this war also manifested itself in other lands, especially in sports. And this war caught the world in Iceland when American Bobby Fischer faced Russian Boris Spassky for the World Chess Champion in 1972. [...]

This pair was far from the media's eye, and for the result [the movements made on the shah table], the public was informed only by telephone.

Now a new show is bringing the historic game back to the theatre, writes the BBC, translates Periscopi.

Fischer's role will be played by the renowned actor Robert Emms, known in the Atlantis and Chernobyl TV series, while Irishman Ronan Raftery will have the role of Spassky.

Director Annabelle Comyn brings us to the Spassky vs theater. Fischer, more precisely at the Hampstead Theatre in London on January 18th.

We remember that George Bush had convicted Bobby Fisher never to return to America.

Fischer died in 2008 while his rival “immortal” is still alive and lives in Russia since 2012.
