The cat that lost his legs in the accident now walks again

A six-year-old cat survived a serious car accident and then became a “superstar” online because it was the first to be made on its hind protein legs in Italy. Vitos was amputated when he was hit by a car in Milan while his owners were in the month [...]
Vitos was amputated when he was hit by a car in Milan while his owners were on his honeymoon. The couple, former baseball player Sylvia Gottard and her wife Linda Ronconi, immediately returned home.
The operation in which prosthetics were directly introduced to what was left of the upper bones reports that they had never been successfully performed in Italy before.
Cats waiting for amputation of both hind legs are often subject to euthanasia. People can now watch Vito again around his apartment through a known account in Instagram and Facebook. Owners Sylvia and Linda also show up in a recent post signed with a “Familyporter”. They told the BBC that they were inspired by the British cat Oscar, which first took prosthetic feet after the accident.

Vito comes from a small town called San Vito Lo Capo in northwestern Sicily, according to Vituzzo Superstar Facebook page.
He belonged to Sylvia's mother, but he had to find a new home when she died and Sylvia's father started seeing someone who had a cat allergies. Taught to live outside, Vito had a small cat door in the apartment where he, Sylvia, and Linda lived in Milan.
In July 2018 the couple were married. Their honeymoon was postponed until December because of their work commitments, and Vito took care of a friend while they were away. Then he had a terrible accident while outside and roaming the streets.

“Vito has lost his paw and risks losing the other one, without which he will not be able to live”, writes Sylvia and Linda at the time. We're too far away. This is a scary moment, but fortunately we have wonderful people nearby who care for”

History was broadcast by local media and circulated widely throughout the country. Sylvia Gottard is a former baseball player in the women's first national league. Her partner Linda Ronconi is a graphic designer and art director.
