I've had a breathing problem for 41 years. Ten days ago, I took a walk in Fushesh Kosovo, I'm sick on the street and the doctors took me to the hospital. The air's got me in a lot, and it's getting in the way of”, he said.
But Zeqiri is not the only patient lying in this clinic.
Skender Baca, a polymologist, said that as a result of air pollution within the month, about 15 persons have been treated ambulantly, with three of them lying in the clinic.
There are two-three patients in the month, we're talking about those lying there, so they're more 10-15 in our specialistial ambulance, and in our medical ambulance every day we control about 40-50 patients during the month 10-15 patients directly complain about air pollution”, Baca said.
According to Bac, lung patients have complained that because of air pollution, their condition has deteriorated.
We have these cases recorded on the basis of the anamnosis, their complaint is that their chronic lung obstructural disease has deteriorated because of air pollution. That means they complain that when they're out, they're starting to get worse with coughs, cyphers, fevers, etc., and there's always cross other components that are virosses or flu, but the flu is still not fortunate in Kosovo”, Baca told Online Economy.
Baca, says usually these patients are 60-65 years old.
He further says that although they are not satisfied with air quality, fortunately there are no serious or acute consequences to patients.
“as we are around the world, air pollution is ranked third after smokers and genetic factors, is the third factor that affects the presentation of chronic lung obstructural diseases, and then there are reactions both in disability and lack of work, and finally in mortality. We are not satisfied with air quality, but, unfortunately, we do not have serious or acute consequences, because the organism has defence bodies”, the Talmud noted, which added that over the past 20 years, the number of patients directly related to air pollution has been almost the same.
Baca also appealed to responsible institutions to work on improving air conditions.
I appeal to citizens to be careful, of course civil society and government agencies that care for air quality should work night and day, so that this air is cleaner”, he said.
While experts from the Kosovo National Institute of Public Health warn and alarm that unless emergency air pollution measures are taken, there will be negative effects on health damage and increased mortality from all causes, especially cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, it will be disturbing.
