Teachers sue the municipalities for disrespecting the salary agreement

Through a collective contract signed by the Ministry of Education and the SBASK, teachers would benefit additional salaries for their contributions to education. More than 200 indictments have been filed by teachers to various municipalities in Kosovo.
For more than 35 years Ahmet Plana has served as a teacher at the school “Dagnia” in Pristina.
And according to a Kolektive contract signed between the United Education, Science and Culture Union and the Ministry of Education, this and many other teachers would benefit additional salaries for their contributions to education.
But this agreement is being respected in a few municipalities.
I made a request to the Pristina municipality for Jubilary and accompanying salaries 10 days ago, but so far we have no answer to”, Plana said.
And since Kosovo municipalities are reluctant to approve these teaching requests, the only way remains for them the court.
“We have waited when the law for Pristina was passed. They have what they expect, why would they go to trial”, Plana said.
The Pristina municipality has not responded to T7 television about the teachers' complaints.
Hich prefers not to stay in implementing this collective contract.
According to Nundman Jasallaj of SBASK, many municipalities are reluctant to implement this agreement.
“Fushe-Kosovo has trouble, Peja as a very, very developed city, and now we are in court hearings where their number is quite large”, said SBASK's Jasharajnder.
According to Jasaraw, all cases that have gone to the Court have been won by teachers.
The number of those legally seeking their right is not small.
“over a year are about 700 retired all are future court clients if municipalities do not act and give the money”, Jasharaj said.
During 2019, more than 200 indictments have been filed by teachers for education directors alone.
