Balkan countries have served as corridors for many migrants who have fled war zones and poverty.
They use the territory of these countries to reach rich countries in the West.
The European Borders Agency, Frontex, is continuing co-operation with several Balkan countries through joint border controls.
The EU decided to send its border units to these countries, following the influx of migrants to the so-called “Balkan corridor”.
