International Monetary Fund Deputy Director Tao Zhang, during the visit he is making to Kosovo in marking the 20th anniversary of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (BQK), has said the tariffs are no response to either Kosovo or Serbia.
We need to sit down and solve problems. It is up to Kosovo and Serbia to seek solutions and tensions not to influence the economy”, he said.
International Monetary Fund Deputy Director (FMN) Tao Zhang has stated that investments in each project should be sound and financing should be good. Zhang has also spoken of the new thermal power plant “New Kosovo”, which he considers institutions to be discreet.
“Institutions must be cautious, careful to address and examine the project to ensure that there is a need for financing at a satisfactory level, but still to cover the demands of the local economy. Normally, we start talking about clean ecological energy now, and they don't turn on clear solutions to that. We are at a crossroads”, he said in an interview for RTK.
According to him, Kosovo has low banking interest rates compared with other countries in the region, even though they have their monetary money.
“The CEC will work to keep Kosovo's financial stability stable”, he said.
