In the first few weeks after birth, maybe sex is the most remote thing in a mother's mind. You may be exhausted and your body has not yet returned to its optimial form. How long a mother expects or should wait before having sex again is completely personal. But contrary to old cliches, being a parent does not mean that sex is completely forbidden.
How often do young mothers have sex after giving birth?
In fact, a new study revealed that nearly 73% of young mothers enjoy sex after birth and almost a quarter of women surveyed say that the quality of their sex after birth is better. The survey of 1,000 women, aged 22-37, found that fatigue is the number one reason young mothers don't have much sex and that 61% of them want to have more sex.
A quarter of surveyed mothers have sex once a week and nearly 30% of them, 2-3 times a week. Nearly 9% of them have relations more than three times a week.
For some, three times a week sounds perfect. For others, this may sound like a lot. The survey also found that 12.8% of mothers have sex once a month, and 13.3% less frequently, and that's completely okay.
The frequency of the young mother's sexual life depends on so many factors. So don't feel sorry if you don't have sex as often as the women surveyed. For some mothers, more time is needed to feel ready for sexual relations again, and some are more eager to experience sexual intimacy again.
More than 61% of mothers surveyed said they were scared or nervous after their first birth. About 72% of these mothers explained that they were afraid of pain. Research suggests that some 17-36% mothers report experiencing sexual pain up to 6 months after birth.
There are three common reasons for after - birth sex pain:
1. Low estrogen levels in vagina;
2. Problems with any wounds;
3. The muscle spasm because of a tightness behind the hips. /Mothers.
